Course overview
This programme's development is in response to a demand from Masters Graduates for a programme that prepares them for the roles of Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP). Nurses who have completed Masters programmes not specifically designed to prepare Advanced Nurse Practitioners for practice, require further specialist knowledge and skills in order to pursue a role as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. This programme's development is a direct response to that demand. The programme leads to registration as a nurse prescriber (subject to approval).
Course outline
Modules include:
• Modules that prepare students for advanced practice in their specialist area, for instance, physical assessment skills and clinical decision making. Students also prepare a portfolio of advancing skills (transition to advanced practice Part 1 and Part 2).
• Core modules addressing nursing theory and research. Students also choose from a range of optional modules and undertake a research dissertation.
Applications and selections
Applications are made online via The Postgraduate Applications Centre (PAC). Relevant PAC application code(s) above.
The programme team's decision is based on the applicant meeting all the entry criteria and on their written application, to include written evidence of support for the applicant from their Director of Nursing. This written support should include agreement to facilitate the applicants development of core and specific advanced practice competencies and written evidence of support for the applicant from an appropriate clinical supervisor.
